Custom Conformer
This device is usually used post operatively to conform the socket allowing it to heal properly worn for 6-8 weeks . It can also be used to therapeutically expand the orbital cavity.
Custom Trial Shell
Impression fitted, this device is usually worn over the damaged eye /globe for several days to weeks. It will open the eye more and give the patient the sensation of what it will be like to wear a scleral lens/scleral shell type prosthesis. This is useful to determine patient comfort.
Prosthetic Build up/ Enlargement 1 and 2 process
This is where the Ocularist will add new plastic to the prosthesis or scleral lens to realign gaze, correct lid margins and improve fit.
Prosthetic Reduction
This is where the Ocularist will remove plastic from the prosthesis or scleral lens to realign gaze, correct lid margins and improve fit.
Re-Colouring, Re-Veining
This is where the Ocularist will repaint /re-tint part of the prosthesis and/or add or remove veins to better match the companion eye. This procedure is necessary when there has been a change in the patient's medical condition affecting the companion eye and also sometimes when a prosthetic build up is required.
Reglazing / Polishing
This is where the Ocularist will remove your prosthetic eye, clean, disinfect, and polish/reglaze the surface . We suggest that this procedure be done twice per year. It allows for the Ocularist to check the fit and colour of the prosthesis and suggest any needed adjustments .
